Hello and welcome to e health forum. ‎

The changes observed in the Total WBC count (elevated) and the Differential picture (neutrophilic), are indicative of ‎a inflammatory ‎response, indicative of a bacterial infection. This could be due to streptococci induced pharyngitis or ‎related infections. This does not indicate any form of viral ‎infection. ‎

Some times, if the bacterial infections are not treated adequately, the inflammation can persist, for as long as 4-6 weeks. ‎The cause of your persisting sorethroat is due to lack of proper treatment.

You can consult a doctor who can prescribe a course of antibiotics to reduce your symptoms. Supportive therapy ‎‎with NSAIDs (Advil), steam inhalation, cough lozenges, and adequate rest will also be helpful in quicker recovery. ‎

I hope this helps to clear all your doubts.‎
