I woke up on Saturday May 16th with a sore throat. I did not have any other problems. On Monday the 18th it had not improved so I found my flashlight to check it out. I saw a dark black stripe of blood, a little thinner than a pencil down the back of my throat. It went away after drinking but would be back again later in the day. On Tuesday the 19th I went to the VA and the doctor said he could see the residual dried blood and it was probably left from a posterior nosebleed. Told me not to worry and come back if I still had a sore throat in two weeks. By Thursday the 21st the sore throat was gone but I still have the blood running down the back of my throat. On Sunday May 24th I used a netti pot for nasal lavage but that did not seem to do anything - no blood came out etc. It is now Monday the 25th and the blood is still there - about the width of my thumb and bright red - some times with darker lumps. The blood goes away when I eat and drink and comes back when I lay down. I started taking Ibuprofin (600 mg. 3 times a day) for arthritis pain on May 16th. I also take generic prozac (10 mg once a day). No other medicine, drugs, alcohol or smoking. I am a 42 years old woman.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
