I have a 11 year old who had strep. When we took him to the doctor she said his kidney was dehydrated at a plus 1 and that there was blood in his urine. And she thought the blood might have been from the strep. Well we just went back to the doctor to make sure the strep was gone....it was however now his kidneys are dehydrated at a plus 2 and she said there is still blood in his urine. She has sent home some cups to take back urine on monday so she can test it again. SHe also said if there is still blood in his urine she would refer us to a specialist. What could be causing this......im so worried

Blood in urine ...only 11
My son was ill when he was 14. It started as HSP and then soon after he recovered he had a severe hurniated disc with no injury or trauma and had emergency surgery. He then developed blood in his urine and this continued for one year and we never got a diagnosis or answer as to why. He is now 16 and doing great. But for 4-5 months of his 14th year was spent at the childrens hospital, it was a trying time. Keep pressing and try to get an answer. I know this is a scary time for you and your son. Our prayers are with you.

You should take your child to a child specalist. These syptoms can be found in children, but are not highly common. Urine can change colors because of medications, but blood could come from infected, funtion issues, or even bruseing. How long has this been going on? Boys will be boys. It could be possible that your child was hit or ran into something. Im not shore that, with it continueing for a few weeks, that is possible; but with the strep, and his ammune system being down because of the strep, it may be possible. It is very unlikely though. But is this is true, it should repair its self.
