I have been experiencing blood intertwined in my stool. I have a history of colon cancer in my family. About a year ago I had a colonoscopy and some noncancerous polyps were found. Once I did find blood on the toilet paper. Do you think this sounds serious?

Colon cancer and colon polyps, both cause intermittent mild rectal bleeding.
People with family history of colon cancer and a history of polyps are at greater risk for developing colon cancer.
Blood on toilet paper, blood strikes in stool, diarrhea or constipation, are symptoms of polyps.
You should be more concerned if the polyps were not removed totally during the colonoscopy (sometimes microscopic ares in polyps are cancerous and can be missed during biopsy)

Watch for other symptoms you may have and could be a sign for something more serious (loss of appetite due to sense of fullness, thin stools, fatigue).

It's good to talk with your doctor for repeating the colonoscopy.

Best wishes!

You should go to your doctor for a thorough evaluation or consult an oncologist that could help you with your questions and any possibility for having cancer.
