lately ive been engaging in anal play (not anal sex though) and i also started bc pills. for the last few times ive noticed blood in my stool and sometimes some sort of mucus. could this be caused my anal play or taking my bc ? not sure what to do

It could be due to the anal sex if there was any tearing (which is easy to do if you don't use lots of lube).

If you stop the anal play for a while and this is still happening, or you don't feel any tearing/pain, you will want to go to the doctor to make sure it isn't some kind of internal bleeding.

It is not due to the birth control.
