blood implies that the medication are not working?

Hello!!! My friend is in his 5th month of mdr tb medication n still sometime cough up blood. His 3rd month sputum is pisitive and is also diabetic. So does ckughing up blood implies that the medication are not working? Or what does it mesn?

I appreciate your concern

It depends upon the culture results of the sputum. If the culture results show that the mycobacterium is resistant to the drugs then its obviously under treated. Moreover compliance with treatment is a big issue in tuberculosis and missing the required pills would also lead to failure in treatment.
