I have been suffering from Eustachian Tube Dysfunction for about two months, and it's just overwhelmingly annoying. I have done a lot of research on various treatments, and none of them have worked. For example, I have tried swallowing, chewing gum, holding my nose and blowing, blowing my nose, inhaling steam, and none of these methods have opened up my ears.
I went to an ent specialist who stated that although my inner tubes were blocked, there was nothing he could do. I would just have to continue using my homemade treatments.
For about a month, the pain and discomfort from my blocked ears have impeded my work and study. I go to a very stressful and difficult university as well, so that only exacerbates matters.
I have certainly tried to just "deal with it" but it always affects me in some way, and no one I have talked to takes it seriously, as they have never had a prolonged blocked ears as I have. After getting on a plane, they just swallow, chew gum, ect, and everything is fine and dandy for them.
The jacked up part is that I have not been swimming or on a plane lately, where usually high altitudes trigger this problem.
My ears really, really hurt a lot, and they are just very uncomfortable. Maybe it doesn't sound like a big deal to people because they haven't experienced this, but it is making my life hell.
Do any of you know have any methods to relieve yourselves of blocked ears, or any advice to get through this? I would be insanely pissed if my old doctor missed something, and if my ears get blocked for ever.
