Hi:

I'm new to this forum and was hoping someone might have had a similar experience and could share what has helped. It's been helpful to read about other's experiences!

I'm 49 and my nutritionist told me I was slightly hypothyroid and I would benefit from taking Armour thyroid. I had a bad reaction to it and stopped after one day. It made me feel jittery and made my heart race and couldn't run. I run marathons. I decided to try it again a few months later and the reaction wasn't as bad. The only good thing it helped with was my constipation. I stayed on it for 10 days this time and stopped. I was spotting almost the whole time on it. After I stoppedit I missed a period and the doc said that that could happen. But, about the time I was on this thyroid I had started gaining weight and bloating to the point where now I look 5 months pregnant. I am a radical health food nut and eat extremely well, I don't ever drink alcohol and run a lot. I am so exhausted in the morning and have become depressed because of this weird bloating. At first I thought it was irritable bowel but now I'm thinking it's hormonal in origin. Has anyone had any similar issues?

hi, without looking it up, there r 2 different versions of the meds u take and some people claim one over the other.
when u say u eat extremely well, can u give the last 3 days of everything u consumed?
why not cut down your running? r u possibly obsessed with it?
good luck

Hi - thanks for your reply. I eat lots of fresh, raw, lightly cooked veggies, with protein, such as, turkey or fish. I don't eat sugar, no soda for 30 years, i don't eat bread or flour products either. I typically eat, a protein shake for breakfast with rice or whey protein, with unsweetened rice or almond or hemp milk with frozen fruit only sweetened with a drop of stevia OR a typical breakfast would be turkey burgers that I make myself with a little garlic salt, pepper/poultry seasoning (no msg). I snack on snap peas or green beans or carrot sticks. Lunch is usually a salad with lots of greens, mustard, spinach, dandelion, kale, collard with other veggies, I make my own mock honey mustard with stone ground mustard sweetened with stevia and add a little sunflower oil. Dinner is similar but I'm not trying to add some brown rice b/c I wasn't eating much carb other than sweet potato and squash. I was snacking on raw nuts b/c i was getting hungry - from stress, lots of running, and some of the supplements the nutritionist gave me just made me feel hungry.

so I might be obsessed with running but it's a healthy activity. I've been doing it 30 years and don't have any arthritis! It's my outlet and social life.

thanks,

Lauren

wow, u r in the 99+ percentile for good eaters and we already know u don't need any more exercise.

I did not ask; what is your height and weight and in your case; I bet u know your body fat, BMI?

BTW the image currently popular of ladies with flat tummies is not found in history; let me give u another example; men r the same, if u look at johnnie weismiller (sic) who played Tarzan after a world's bets athlete he did not have any of the definition physically that is considered today as good health; and let me give one more because it popped in mind; we hire people to move when we move and the last time; we had some ordinary looking Mexicans who would put any body builder to shame NOT BECAUSE THEY had better defined bodies; but because they could pick up and care 130 lb pieces of varying shapes and haul them back NON STOP for hrs. (i would have ended up in the hospital making the moving cost trivial)
EXCUSE ME BUT I JUST MUST ADD ONE MORE
i remember an interesting interview with jack lalane who i bet u know of, and linus pauling , u may well know nobel prize winner for work on vitamin c
pauling said he expected to live into 90s and looked like the pilsbery doo boy, lalane said he expected to live to 120 BUT pauling lived to 93 and lalane to 97 (u can draw your own conclusions) sorry about the spelling;
here is something u can try;
2 things; flood your body with probiotics of at least 100 billion culture counts daily for 2 weeks and at same time; cut your exercise by 75%
I KNOW it sounds counter intuitive but u could use the rest anyway and also try the other armor thyroid to see if u r one of those who claim there is a difference. ALSO since u r such a healthy person u might consider KIFER as u seem the type to be willing to do the effort
best wishes
