Bloating... it bounces back like a thick balloon

I have the same symptoms as TummyProblems who reported in 2009: "I do not have a history of ulcers or anything of that sort. My health is relatively good. A few days back my stomach suddenly became very bloated. When I press down on it, it bounces back like a thick balloon that has been filled with too much water. I have been having regular bowel movements but have not been passing gas as regularly as I do usually. Should I just get some Gas-X and see what happens?"
