my period was 4 days late and started normal. but within 2 days i was just using pantyliners for the next 3 days. it usually starts a little bit heavy for the the first day and a half and usually had a lot of blood clots. my breats are also bigger.

now after eating, i get bloated and my stomache hurts. i'm also very gassy. i'm burping a lot. all of which are very unusual. i'm always running to the bathroom thinking i need to use it but once i sit down, nothing happens.

could i be pregnanat? or is it something else??

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. I am really glad to help you out. The possibility of pregnancy needs to be ruled out in view of the delayed periods and minimal bleeding. The urine pregnancy test is usually done around 1 week after the missed periods. I would suggest you to get your serum HCG levels estimated since this is more specific than urine for pregnancy tests. Moreover, it gets elevated in blood much early (around 10 days after the implantation of the zygote, formed by the union of an egg and a sperm). The HCG (it is a hormone) levels rise only in pregnancy and its presence will confirm the status of your pregnancy. An ultrasound of the uterus can also be done to look for the gestation sac.

If pregnancy is ruled out, then other causes of the delayed periods/spotting and the symptoms you’re going through needs to be looked into. It can happen because of hormonal imbalance, hypothyroidism, increased stress, eating disorder, increased smoking, alcohol or caffeine use and medical conditions like PCOS, fibroid, polyps and endometriosis. An ultrasound of the pelvis will not only help in ruling out pregnancy but will also facilitate in looking for other causes of delayed periods like PCOD, endometriosis etc. Please do consult a gynecologist for the same. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
