Q: Bloating after appendix removal

I have had my appendix removed 4 weeks back, that was on the 4th of May.I have recovered from pains but my stomach is still very bloated.I have since gained a lot of weight and the stomach is causing discomfort.What can i take to eliminate the discomfort/bloating, or is it not time yet for it to be nornal.Please advice.

Abdominal bloating is common after all abdominal surgeries.
It can last up to several weeks after the intervention and increases when narcotics for pain relief are used.
If you suffer from constipation, this adds to the feeling of bloated abdomen.
Try to drink plenty of fluids and eat small meals.
For bloating, you may try to chew simethicone tablets with meals.
For constipation, use stool softener.
