Hi, I am 27 years old and a mother of two small children. I gave birth 5 weeks ago, and as soon as I got out of the hospital, I have had this weird blemish on my upper back near my shoulder. At first it bled a little, but now it's dried up and painful. It looks like a healed over burn, but I haven't had any injuries to that part of my body. My father and my mother's mother have both had skin cancer, but they are both really into being in the sun without sunscreen for long periods of time. I have never sunbathed or gone to tanning salons before and I make sure to protect my skin in the sun because I am very fair skinned.

My question is this: should I be concerned about this blemish that just won't seem to go away? Could it possibly be skin cancer even though I've always done my best to protect my skin in the sun? Could it be some sort of infection that I contracted at the hospital while giving birth to my son? I would really appreciate any help at all. Thanks in advance.
