Bleeding on Nuvaring !
Posted: 06-28-08 12:17pm

So I've been taking Nuvaring for well over a year now; I usually take it out on the last day of the month, and can expect my period on the 3rd or 4th of the next.
Two days ago while having sex with my fiance, it was pulled a 1/4 of the way out (just BARELY poking out), I'm not sure how but, I didn't notice, and it remained like this for about 6 hours (while sleeping). Come morning being that it seemed more out of place then actually OUT, I just readjusted it; thinking nothing of it really.
Well, its obviously not the end of the month little lone the 3rd or 4th of the next and I woke up this morning to bleeding!! Similar to that of what its like when Im usually starting my cycle.
So the question is...Could I be pregnant and this is the spotting (just unusually heavy for I've been informed as spotting)? If the Nuvaring was out far enough to not do its job, it still should have taken 3 or 4 days to get my cycle, as per usual.
Whats going on?! Sad
P.s.(I've also been taking Fiorinal C 1/2 for the last two weeks approx. but stopped over 72 hours ago)

You are not pregnant 2 days after sex, just to clarify.

It takes 14 days after sex to even be pregnant, as that is when the egg implants into the uterus. BEFORE this time you have fertilization and movement of the egg closer to sperm.

You would NOT be pregnant. The bleeding can be because the Fiorinal contains aspirin, which does thin the blood.

The nuva ring was not completely outside of your body, so the hormones were still there.

It may be a FLUKE, many women will have unusual bleeding at some time during birth control use... It happens to almost everyone.
