I'm sure you have it figured out by now, as it is a month later, but I wanted to tell you about my personal experience...A little over a week after my medical abortion I had INTENSE cramping, worse than after I took the misoprostol pills, with only spotting, which was normal, as I had been only spotting after 24 hours had passed since taking the misoprostol. (is this making sense?) I wondered if I was cramping because there was a clot trying to find its way out. About a week later, I began to bleed, not spot. I thought maybe it was my period. But about 2 days later, I was in the shower, and a clot came out. about half the length of a magic marker, same thickness. I examined it like crazy. It had a slightly foul odor, but just looked like clotted blood. I went back to the clinic yesterday for my follow up, where I found out I'm not pregnant. I was told I'll spot for at least 3 weeks. I've been taking birth control since taking the misoprostol to 'regulate' my hormones, though I don't know if this actually works. I'm skeptical about the efficacy of birth control. Some advice: raspberry leaf and shepard's purse as a tea reeeeally help to reduce bleeding. I highly recommend it. You can get raspberry leaf easily, already in boxed teas, at a place like Whole Foods. Shepards purse is harder to find, but if you have a local ethnic grocery, or health food store, they might be able to help you. Also, blue and black cohosh tincture help to reduce bleeding.
One more thing: spotting, from what I've learned, is completely normal...where you only need to use a light pad, once or twice a day. Bleeding like you are having your period is not necessarily normal. I would check with a doctor or a clinic if you think you are bleeding. Spotting is definitely a pain in the ass, but someday, it will be over.
