Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
The prolonged bleeding is not a normal symptom. If the bleeding is light, it could suggest possibility of pregnancy. If it is heavy and associated with abdominal cramps, backpain, presence of clots etc, then it could also be suggestive of possible ongoing miscarriage. Other possibilities include hormonal imbalances, thyroid abnormalities, endometrial problems, uterine polyps/fibroid, anemia, bleeding disorder, etc. If the bleeding is not getting controlled with the medication prescribed, you should consider reporting back to your treating doctor/gynecologist for further evaluation to look for the underlying cause for the abnormal vaginal bleeding that you describe. Further treatment as appropriate (based on examination and investigations results) would be started to help you control the bleeding and regulate periods. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet.
Take care.
