Okay, my problem is kinda complicated....but i will try to explain all that i am going through. Here is what i have been dealing with for about 2 yrs now....during my menstral cycle i bleed through my rectum....and its a significant amount.....and i have been to specialists, had colonoscopy twice, sigmoidoscopy twice, mri (without the contrast...which i found out its needed to find any abnormalities!), ultrasound, x-rays....and everyone of these tests show nothing out of the ordinary. Other than 2 small hemorroids way up inside...(they say couldn't be the problem) (which i agree)....Thats one of my problems.......now here's the other........When trying to have a bowel movement...keep feeling like its right there but cant come out....so i checked with mirror and to my surprise, what i saw wasn't poo, but instead was a big blob of my insides, poking out of my anus and once i stopped pushing, it contracted back inside...(sorry if i am sounding gross, but i need help). But this problem is all the time. Unlike the bleeding one only occuring during my cycle. Does anyone have any advice on what my next move should be?

It is very surprising how 2 colonoscopies couldn't find the origin of the anal bleeding. Anal bleeding that always follows the menstruation could be result of womb-rectum fistula or extra-uterine (rectal) endometriosis.

Have you ever bleed from the rectum without having menstruation?
Were the colonoscopies performed during the bleeding or when bleeding was gone?

The second problem (bowels coming out of the anus) is called rectal prolapse. It can be treated only surgically.

Thank you for replying to my post. And to answer your questions, yes i had the colonoscopy when i was on and when i was off my periods. Both times my results were dissappointing. But it seems to only happen when i am in the pushing or bearing down position. (not exactly pushing but contracting when urge is there.) The same day i posted this i ended up in the e.r cause it was bothering me so much. And the dr.on call said what you just said. He thinks its my uterus dropping. He actually saw it cause he had me push. So now i in the process AGAIN in seeing my reg. doc so she can refer me to another obgyn dr. and do all of this all over again!!!! I just hope this new dr. takes my problem serious and helps me. This has been going on for almost 2 yrs now. baffle

You can ask for a second oppinion from a gynecologist and abdominal surgeon. The orrigin of rectal/genital bleeding must be found.
