It could be that your "clotting factor" is low. You could experience more bleeding then others. About 6 weeks is the normal post birth bleeding cycle. at that time you may pass some clots etc. It may be in your best interest to mention this to your doctor. A D&C may be in order to clean you out. That is no uncommon.

I bled really bad after my 3.....with the 2nd, I required a transfusion...mine were all c sections. Bleeding after childbirth can happen for lots of reasons...size of the baby, if your uterus is contracting back down, etc. I would say that more often then not, I've had to give injections to help the uterus out a bit...or even give some IV pitocin to help stop the bleeding. I would say that if you're that worried about it and if it's been a real problem in the past, to talk to your doctor before getting pregnant. Perhaps in L&D they can be more alert to your history and jump in a little quicker???? Good luck on whatever you decide to do!
