Q: Bleeding after inverted uterus
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 25th, 2009
I have birth to my son on September 17th which was great till my midwife tried to birth my placenta and my uterus flipped inside out and then fell out of me. (note i am 20 yrs old) since then i have been bleeding non-stop every day for the past five months. i have an IUD in place...but it doesn't seem to help much....(note I'm not talking about spotting) recently went to ER after my doc prescribed Doxcycline hyclate for a possible uterus infection my symptoms became worse with fever and even more bleeding...The ER doc. said it wasn't normal for me to bleed for this long but couldn't help me because he didn't know what was wrong with me...I'm worried i cant stop bleeding...IDK if this has anything to do with my inverted uterus after giving birth because the same thing happened to my mother only she stopped bleed a week after to she had my little brother....SO HELP!!!!!?????? WHATS WRONG WITH ME I NEED ANSWER????
thanks
spunky mama

There is not enough data for definitive diagnose to be given. The quantity of the blood lost might have been helpful.
You might want to visit your gynecologist and have physical pelvic exam, laboratory tests (female sex hormones included), and transvaginal ultrasound. The results might reveal the cause for the bleeding.
