Was this your family doctor that told you that you are OK or was it a Urologist? Actually holding your bladder for an extended amount of time can cause your bladder to ache and can actually create a haven for bacteria and create a UTI and / or a Kidney infection.

A Urologist would be the route to go as they specialize in the urinary tract.

If it turns out that you have an overactive bladder (this dx should not be given without ruling out other possibilities) there is medication that can help.

You shouldn't have to suffer...have you been checked for bladder or kidney stones?

Incontinence and anxiety
It is no mystery that anxiety and incontinence are related. It is directly related to the fact that when your body goes into a state of fight or flight, any system in your body that is not directly related to saving your life is nearly shut down. This allows the blood that was previously allocated to those areas to be freed up, and be utilized in areas that are vital for performing life saving functions; such as your heart, lungs, large muscle groups (especially red muscle tissue), circulation and your sensorimotor system. This is primarily because when the brain perceives a threat it has a reaction that tells your body to either flee from the danger, or confront the danger.

The draw back happens when a person is put under this condition multiple times, due to stress that one goes through on a daily basis. Chronic stress is one of the most serious problems with people because it affects so many systems in your body; like your digestive system. Your digestive system governs more than just the breaking down of food, but it also has a big hand in excreting waste. Since, during a fight or flight moment, your digestive system slows to a near halt (due to lack of blood, as your digestive system is not a life saving system), when it reactivates it goes through many unpleasant "system checks" to make sure everything is in working order and able to resume its duties. If subjected to this multiple times, those "system checks" take a toll on the system itself and cause it to not work as well as it normally would.

Despair, you say that you drink around 5L of water a day. This is good because it enables your body to be very well hydrated and all of your bodily systems will benefit from that. However, since you are drinking all of that water, you are going to urinate more, because your body will use some of that water as transportation for waste. This is normal; there is nothing wrong with going to the bathroom as much as you do, considering the amount of water that you drink. I would be more concerned if you were urinating more than that or going a full day with urinating once or twice, and drinking as much water as you do. That may be indicative of a different problem. However, given the amount of water you drink, I would say that your body is reacting normally and you are in a good state of health.
