I haven't found a forum for Bladder Cancer but I have just been diagnosed. I will find out the grade/stage after my surgery on Thursday. The pain is similiar as the pain I had with endometriosis years ago. I had a total hysterectomy in 2000. when the blood clots in my urine started recently I thought I was just having new endo problems. I just wanted to check this forum and see if anybody thought endo and bladder cancer could be related.

How was the bladder cancer diagnosed?
Was the suspected lesion biopsied?
Was your urinary tract affected by endometriosis years ago?

Urinary tract involvement by endometriosis is uncommon and the bladder is the most common site. Because of that, clinical misdiagnosis of bladder cancer frequently is made.

Thinking of you for today's surgery!
Well wishes!

Bladder cancer treatment
marija,
thanks for the email
diagnosed with cysto. I was told at that time (after cysto) that I had bladder cancer and the various ways she was gonna treat me. after my surgery she was able to use the mitomycin in. I go for my "conference follow up" appt next thursday. Makes me a little nervous that this meeting was explained that way was so she talk w/out getting interrupted and spend time explain everything there. usually i feel like I am blown off. just hope everything is ok.

the endo had only attached to my colon...plus the mass/tumors were inside my bladder -so I am not sure how endo would get inside,

yes, it was all sent for biopsy yesterday

You are welcome!

Endometriotic masses may grow into the bladder lumen and mimic a polypoid neoplasm. Malignant transformation of endometriotic masses to adenocarcinoma of the endometrioid and clear cell types is rare.

There are three main theories regarding the pathogenesis of bladder endometriosis. The first and most widely accepted theory is that endometriosis develops in the bladder because of retrograde menstruation, which seeds the surface of the bladder serosa (bladder endometriosis is deeply infiltrating, endometrial deposits or implants can grow through the muscle into the submucosa, producing an obtuse bulge into the bladder lumen, or, less frequently, endometriosis can grow through the mucosa-the most inner layer of bladder wall, and produce a polypoid mass).

Have you noticed blood in urine?
Have you experienced burning sensation while urinating and urgency to urinate?
Did you get the biopsy results?

Well wishes!

Bladder Cancer
Hi Marija,

sorry it has taken me so long to reply alot going on...In reply to your questions.

Have you noticed blood in urine?
Yes that was what made me go to the Docs. I had bood clots off and on last year and then about February I had started getting them every other week
Have you experienced burning sensation while urinating and urgency to urinate?
The burning did not start until after the Surgery/biopsy/mitomycin treatment. I did have urgency before and still after the surgery to take out the tumor & Mitomycin instillation
Did you get the biopsy results?
Yes, it is bladder cancer Ta - I start BCG treatments this week for 6 weeks. Normally I understand that BCG is not usually given for Ta but because of the size of the tumor...it is advised that I have the BCG treatments. I am pretty nervous about them.

Thanks for your email and concern. I am staying positive and will be fine.

You are welcome!
I'm very happy you stick to the positive thinking!
That's very important for your health.

You were diagnosed with a low grade, tumor confined to the inner lining of the bladder. Sometimes, low grade, Ta tumors, when are larger than 3 cm (you've mentioned the size, so, I guess it was a bigger tumor), poses risk of recurrence.
That's why the intrabladder chemo and surgery in those circumstances, aren't the complete treatment and BCG is added.

Why you are nervous about BCG treatments?
Have you started experiencing some side effects?
The great majority of people find BCG treatments tolerable with side effects being temporary, and some have no adverse reactions at all.

Thinking of you!
Best wishes!

Before we understand what ovarian cysts (cancer) are, we should try and understand what a cyst in itself is. A cyst is a bag or a sac of tissue that contains fluid. In other words, a cyst is a collection of fluid that is surrounded by a thin wall. Now, when this sac like structure that is fluid filled in found in the ovary it is called the ovarian cyst. Usually in the medical terminology, when a follicle that is found in the ovary is more than two centimetres large, it is considered as a cyst. Thus, an enlarged ovarian follicle may also be referred to as an ovarian cyst.
