I have a black spot in my left eye only that appears when i blink and quikly fades. I can also notice it if i run my finger infront of my eye really close its as if it only appears with contrast. Im scared its damage from over exposure to some bright light because thats what the spot reminds me of. Its been like this for 8 months at least I cant pinpoint when it started but its really annoying. Any ideas what it is or how to fix it?

Rich4551,

It is most likely a vitreous floater. These can appear as black or dark spots in clumps, chains, or randomly throughout the visual field. Some patients describe them as looking like cobwebs.

The significance of floaters range from benign (they are just there) to being associated with disorders such as a retinal tear.

The only way to be sure is to have your eyes examined by an ophthalmologist. Good luck.
