Q: birthcontrol and wierd periods

okay so im 17 and about 6 months ago i was put on the depo shot...about a month after i was put on the shot i had my period and it was pretty heavy for about 3-4 weeks. i havent had it since till 2 days ago when i started to bleed. or i thought so but the blood is like a light brown and there isnt much i just have to wear a panny liner. is that normal or should i be worried?

It's probably pretty normal. Have you been sexually active? I've heard a lot of people who use the depo shot say that they have had screwy periods afterwords. Are you opposed to taking the pill? Your periods will be more predictable and you won't have like really heavey periods and then really light ones on the pill. It still varies for me, but it's a lot more "even" now.

im not sexually active. the pill actually my parent really wanted me on the depo and my doctor suggested the shot too because im 17 and a very distarcted person so they were worried that id forget to take it at the right time. and im just worried that the blood shouldnt be brown...

It's pretty normal. The hormones do weird things to your cycle, even turning it different colors (ranging anywhere to light pink to dark brown). It's crazy, and a little annoying, but your body will eventually adjust to the hormones.

Or, sometimes it doesn't adjust (which also isn't a really big deal). It's just your bod...dealin' with what is going on inside. Don't fret, hon. You're fine. Smile
