Planned parenthood is usually a safe bet for just about any kind of birth control.

Do you not have a doctor, or you don't have insurance?

Not having a doctor isn't a big deal...you just call and make an appointment. You generally don't need a referral to most doctors. Also, I would call and ask if you can get birth control with a general practioner. I used to think I had to go to a gynocologist, but my general doctor gave me a pap and everything.

However, if you've never been to the gynocologist, I would go there first.

For anyone thinking about using the NuvaRing I strongly urge you to look at your other options. I have been on NuvaRing for 1 year and 4 months. I thought it was great at first. I don't know about you ladies but I am terrible at having to remember to take any pills. The ring on the other hand was something I only had to remember 2 times out of the month. Once to put it in and once to take it out. It started out slowly for me and of course I didn't realize any of this was caused by the ring until I did some research.

On the other birth controls it was just simple stuff like swelling and tenderness of the breasts, major weight gain and loss of sex drive. NOT with the ring. My symptoms were major hair loss, bowel problems, such as constipation, bloating, pain, depression, major loss of sex drive, headaches sometimes but lots of migraines, mood swings, irritable at anything and everyone. I had a fear that my boyfriend was cheating, was going to cheat, and or kept things from me. I would get zits once in a while and they wouldn't form completely and took forever to heal. I would cry over the littlest things. Things I wouldn't normally be so upset over. In the beginning I was tired some of the time but then it got to the point where I would suffer insomnia but was ridiculously tired even if I got a good 8 hours of sleep.

I went to my doc and had a bunch of tests done (and I do mean a bunch) and they could find absolutely nothing wrong with me. All tests came back with great results.

Needless to say I, along with my boyfriend decided to get off of birth control for a while to let my body get back to normal. I just stopped it so I can't say that I have had any changes. I know they are forth coming and I can't wait to be me again.

I feel bad for all those women who had to and are currently dealing with the symptoms or similar symptoms that I went through. I hope this helps to open your eyes and show you are not alone. Nor are you psycho and that you are changed only because someone we trust was unaware of the real symptoms and side effect of the NuvaRing.
