I am 42 and no longer having regular periods. But I've recently started a sexual relationship, so I want to start taking Birth Control. Should I do this if I'm not having periods? If so, where in the pack should I start?
Thanks, BMG

Yes, you should, unless your doctor determines you are past menopause and infertile.

Just start with pill 1 tomorrow, or any other day. Consider yourself fertile for the first 7 days.

Please be aware that you are even more at risk from STDs than a teenager. So please be very careful.

Best of luck!

Thanks Kristigraham!

Thanks for your concerns over safety from STD's - yes I will be using condoms as well - but these have failed me in terms of birth control once before Smile

While I'm at it.....

How will the doctor determine where I'm at in regards to menopause? Is it a blood test/physical exam or what?

Yss, a blood test to determine hormone levels, some questions and perhaps an ultrasound to look at your ovaries.
