Q: Birth Control Pill and unprotected sex

I have been on the pill for well over a year now. I have been with my boyfriend for 3 years now and we rarely have sex anymore. I have remained on the pill because I like being regular. Last night, my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex, and he used the "pull-out method". I messed up last week on my pill and missed the last pill of the package. I have no clue if I should go and get the EC or not. I have until tonight to decide, but I don't know what to do. I am still taking the pill and I ended my period on time. So what should I do?

don't worry too much
i hear that missing a pill or two isn't something to be too worried about especially if it is the pill right before the placebos. just don't do it too much, on top of that, if he used the pull out method i think you should be okay, it would take some strong precum to get you pregnant (i used to use it as my only method of birth control, and i never got pregnant) i wouldn't worry too much. though using an ecp won't hurt, and will probably make you feel better.

Extremely eHealthy
Unlikely
It is unlikely that you are pregnant. The pill works by stopping you from ovulating. You were clearly past the ovulation point when you messed up.

The EC stops the fertilized egg from implanting and it seems like it is unlikely that there was any egg around when you had sex.

If you are not on the pill, the chances of you getting pregnant during your period is minuscule. The possibility exists in theory but in practice you will have to menstruate and ovulate at the same time. That is a tremendously screwed up cycle and should be very very rare.

The problem is normally that women mistake bleeding for their periods and thus think that they are safe. As you are using the pill, this is unlikely.
