Hello, I have been on Lutera(generic Alesse) for two years. I had a small decrease in my libido when I started but nothing that interfered with my quality of life.

However, a couple of months ago my libido began to significantly diminish to the point where it is now non-existant. I have noticed that I feel more normal on the off days of the pill. I am thinking about switching pills to see if it will help but don't know what component of the pill I am taking now is affecting my libido. Can anyone offer a suggestion for other birth control pills that I will not of this effect or at least not to this degree?

There is no evidence that birth control pills (including Lutera) can cause libido decreasing (frigidity). There is evidence that birth control pills can cause depression and indirectly depression might affect the sex drive.
Do you feel depressed?
