My periods have been irregular for 6 months now. I talked to my school nurse and she said it was due to stress, totally understandable for a college student. Shortly after, i would have breast pain and lower abdominal cramping as if i was going to start my period, bleed a bit, and then it would stop. 3-5 days later my period would officially start. I didn't think it was normal, but that's how it has happened ever since, i would always start my period a few days after i thought i was going to. I was put on birth control to regulate my periods, and my fiance and i are sexual at times. i was told to start the birth control the first day i started spotting. So, i did. But i forgot that normally my period would really start a week from when i thought i was starting. i started the birth control, and a week later im still cramping and my breasts are tender. I am lightly spotting 2-3 days apart, and now nothing but cramps. Am i pregnant? Or did the birth control simply mess up my period cycle even more? I am also stressing because i think iam pregnant, which isn't helping the situation.

This is breakthrough bleeding.

Its very common when you're on birth control and happens a lot during the first three months. If it gets too annoying or continues past your first three months, then speak to your doctor about switching pills.

If you are really worried about pregnancy, then you can take a pregnancy test, but you're probably fine and this is just a side effect from the pill. Smile
