birth control and anisocoria
Posted: 05-21-08 10:49am

I have been on two androgen blocking drugs, and one month of BC pills. I was told to take sprinolactone on 4th day to 21st of my cycle. I have had anisocoria for almost 3 weeks and it started 3-4 days after I added oral contracetives/sprinolactone to my antiandrogen pill (Flutamide) . Yesterday was the last BC pill i have and it is a 21 day pill ( no sugar pill).
The problem is that I do not know which pupil is the abnormal one. In light both are normal, but in dark is when the difference is seen.
Could this be a cause of Permanent anisocoria? I have no other symptoms, and a full eye
exam was done with no abnormal findings at ALL.
Today I got my period and the anisocoria is a bit more.
Thank you
My wedding is in a month and I just feel so depressed becuase of this pupil abnormality.

Why are you on the androgen blocking drugs? Do you know the cause of your aniscoria? I've never heard of it being caused by or related to birth control or reproductive cycles.

Anisocoria is not a condition, it's a symptom of something else. So there is no way to know if it will go away unless you know what's causing it. Here is a list of some causes- but this is kind've hard to read... http://www.emedicine.c om/oph/topic160.htm

I think it's definitely something to check with your doc about.
