I'm in a long distance relationship and will be seeing my boyfriend in 3 weeks, it is an unexpected trip and I haven't been taking birth control. My period ended early last week and I'm wondering if there is any birth control contraceptive that can be taken after your period has ended Question

I know most of them are supposed to be taken during your period, but I really need something now before I go see him inlove

Please help me!!!

There are several different kinds of nonhormonal birth control that you can use. (I'm hoping that you two will be using a condom as well.)
You can start taking the pill later but it will take longer for it to be effective. According to one site I visited:
If you start taking the pill within five days of the start of your period, pill protection begins immediately. If you start taking it at any other time during your menstrual cycle, pill protection begins one week later.

Thank you so much for replying, if it takes a week before it starts working then that's fine. Do you think, if I take it a week before will it stop my period?? Cause my period is scheduled to come as soon as I go there :S

And yes we will be using a condom, we can't have little me's running around yet Smile

I don't know how the pill will affect you. It may postpone your period since it will be taken at an odd time in your cycle but I can't guarantee that.
