I would just like to pass on to people that therapists are human you know! just like you and I. Just because they have a degree from a school of thought does not give them all the answers or solutions! I dont agree with anyone that decides to put them on a high horse! in my opinion the answers to many problems come from within ourselves and I will stand up to anyone that wants to try and brainwash me with the idea that a person that hasnt experienced what I have understands me better than I understand myself! therapists should act as a mirror in the sense that they should validate any ideas you may have regarding whats wrong with you or not wrong with you rather than create their own god like ideas of whats best for you based on having a piece of paper that many people seem to think gives them all power to diagnose accuratly! in short youre opinion to me is as valid if not more valid to me than any therapist! like an addiction if you have been there you can relate rainbow rainbow

Hi Jimmy66,

Some of what you say makes good sence to me. As recently had problems with mine. He denied and most infactically(sp) what he had told me the previous visit and that was he was not a diagostition and referred me to my psycharist.

Being cagey as I am I sent an email to the psyc and a carbon copy to the psychologist, saying what the psychologist had said. The psychologist did not like that one little bit as he now changed his tune and said he was a diagnostition. I thought at the time he must be.

I have done some very good work with the psychologiset and as I need to check in every six or eight weeks with him I find I am in a position where I don't know what to do.

I am happy to go on seeing him. The big question is now, is he able to see/treat me? For he knows that I know I caught him out. And thus his treatment of me, may be compromised.

What do you reakon?

Now to quote you:

"therapists should act as a mirror in the sense that they should validate any ideas you may have regarding whats wrong with you or not wrong with you rather than create their own god like ideas of whats best for you "

I could not disagree with you on what you say there.

For you might as well tell your problems to the person next door, if you want to know what is wrong with you and how to go about doing something about it. You are described yourself as just wanting a listen post.

However you may just be right, that is possible. How about asking your psychologist (if you have one) why he/she does not think what you are saying and what he/she thinks is actually the problem?

All the best,

JennyRobin
