My mother is a 60 yrs old and bipolar, which I believe she was all her life. Until they came out with medications to treat this, she was a WITCH. Pardon the language, but so true. She now is on Rispatol (i think something like that). She is experiencing bad hallucinations and i'm wondering if this is a side effect? I can't seem to get a whole lot of information about it. I'm worried as hell. She lives alone and I'm the only one to check on her. She comes up with some wierd stuff, like a long dream and its to the point where I don't know if its true or not. But I am sure she hallucinates, I've been there and seen it.

What to do?

Terrible 2 live with
I was also diagnosed with Bipolar 3 years ago when I was 25 years old. They put me on Lamictal, Klonopin and some other pills i cant remember the names of now. I know I was on at least 15 different pills a day. I also heard voices all the time. And once had myself admitted to the psych ward because I was afraid to be alone. The voices would tell me to do hurtful things to myself and I was scared to death. Turns out Bipolar is just a fancy name for manic depression. Some ppl can choose to change there lifestyle and it's not so easy for others. I stopped taking all of the medication and focused my reasons for living on othr things and before I knew it I was doing great. Im so sorry to hear that your mother is going through that and I wouldn't leave her alone if I were you. It's very serious and a scary thing to go through by yourself. Maybe you should ask her doctor to change her medicine or take her off the psycho meds all together.

well
she isn't hearing voices, funny you should say that. Yesterday she told me a long, disowned drug addict brother, went to her house, with a big black dog and he had a gun, but wouldn't talk to her...she sees stuff. then she told me one day my daughter's friend was there visiting, so I said, put her on the phone, she couldn't find her, I later found out, she doesn't even know where my mom lives...wierd. Good for you for becoming so focused. Do you have children? Honestly, this woman, although I love her right to pcs, she put us kids through hell growing up. Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it.

Anytime
Thats to bad that you had it so tough, yes I do have children and they became my focus for everything. I refuse to have my children live the same jacked up childhood I lived and so in my opinion it all boils down to being unselfish. I would give my whole existance to ensure that my kids are happy. Sorry it didn't help to much but anytime u need to talk im here...
