The squeaky wheel gets the grease - Keep calling the doctor. If nothing else they will return your call to get you off their backs. I am sorry that you don't receive better care after the sacrifices you have made in service to our country and all of us. I personally thank you for the service.

You do need to speak to a doctor. You are not stable right now. The medication merry-go-round can be frustrating. There is not a one size fits all formula for treating bipolar disorder. It is trial and error and what works for you. Stress can throw everything off. You may need a dose adjustment or another medication. Only your doctor can do that. I wish I could offer you more advice. Call your doc. Insist on talking to him. Tell them you feel unstable and need help now.

Let us know how you are doing.

It is a shame the VA is like that. I agree with antigone, get yourself a regular doctor. There are times you are going to need to do that. The waiting period for veterans is way to long. And then sit there for 5 hours to be seen. Shame, it really is.

Thank-you for serving our country!

VA---
did anyone see the news last week about the VA getting 2.6 billion charged on the Government credit cards??? WELL--you can bet the Starbucks, Regal Cinemas etc they used it for--well,,it could have been used properly to help people that really needed the help.
All you can do is watch her,---let her know that you are always there and she can call you at anytime day or night without questions.
Good luck...

Getting the docs to help you...
Doing my 3rd tour in Iraq right now. Bi-polar with PTSD. Doc's got me on a bit of a cocktail right now, just enough to get me stable enough to do my job. My downtime is my own problem, or so he informs me.

However, I do have a couple of buddies out here who have advised me of a bit of truly amazing advice. I don't know if the VA Docs are Army Docs, but the phrase that pays with these guys out here is:
"Doc, I'm thinking of hurting myself and/or others."
They always tell us they "Have" to ask us, but when you say yes, your dosage gets adjusted like jiffy lube....30 minutes or less.

Give it a try, maybe? I would suggest "others", for fear of having them slap you in a jacket.

Hi vince
listen do not let them treat you like that....
It has taken me 7 months but by golly I did get my awful boss right where it hurt..his pride. Sometimes people do not understand bipolar because it cannot be seem with the EYE--like a broken arm etc...
Some people think ---oh its just in your head..yea it is but it cannot just be unplugged and stopped---keep on your meds no matter what but let everyone know that needs to know what you are on etc. Especially your family--that way if anything happens to you..God forbid---then the so called proof would be in the pudding---yea I am southern..can ya tell?
keep us all posted.... Cool
