Best hospital in India For Kidney Transplantation (Page 1)

Must Read
The kidneys filter blood and regulate body flood. What happens during kidney failure? And what types of kidney failure do doctors diagnose?...
There are three main condition which cause renal (kidney) failure. Learn what causes kidney failure and what factors increase your risk of kidney problems....
What are the signs of acute or chronic kidney failure? Which ones are more serious than others? And when should you ask a doctor or go to the ER for help?...
Both the kidneys of my brother have got damaged. Now it seems transplantation is the only option left out.

Can anybody help me out with the information about the best hospital in India, preferably at Kolkatta whose transplantation success rate is very high?

I am also interested to know the lifespan of the person after surgery.

I will appreciate honest and humble suggestion!

Thanks
Manoj

Hello Mr Manoj, and thank you for posting your medical question on E health Forum. I am glad I can help you here.

From the history provided, it seems that your relative has ESRD (end stage renal disease) and had been advised renal transplantation.

Advantages of early renal transplantation: Kidney transplantation is a life-extending procedure. The typical patient will live ten to fifteen years longer with a kidney transplant than if kept on dialysis. The years of life gained is greater for younger patients. People generally have more energy, a less restricted diet, and fewer complications with a kidney transplant than if they stay on conventional dialysis. Ideally, a kidney transplant should be pre-emptive, i.e. take place before the patient begins dialysis.

The average lifetime for a donated kidney is ten to fifteen years. When a transplant fails, a patient may opt for a second transplant, and may have to return to dialysis for some intermediary time.

Here are Some good nephrologists in Kolkata, India,

1. Dr. M. H. Raibagi, Nephrologist, Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata

2. Wockhardt Hospital And Kidney Institute, Kolkata

kidney disease
Dear forum members,

My mother has had high blood pressure for several years and over the past 1.5 yrs, she's had stage3 renal disease. Her creatinine levels were below 1.8 for the last year but in a month time's it bumped to 2.2. Doctors haven't recommended dialysis yet or a kidney transplant. We have tried many doctors and even ayurvedic medicines but the struggle to get the kidneys to stabilize and not lose any more function seems like a lost battle.

We are based in Hyderabad, India. What are the best hospitals and doctors here for Kidney transplant and diagnosis ?

It probably depends on the person, but what is the progression of kidney disease in general from creatinine being 2.2 now to whatever it is that requires a transplant ? How many months or years are we looking at ?

What are the best hospitals in Hyderabad or anywhere in India for Kidney transplant ? Is there a national registry to find a donor ? If there's a waiting list, where could we register ourselves ? Are cadaver kidney transplants done in India or is it only live donors or family donors only ?

looking forward and would greatly appreciate your advise.

Chronic Kidney Disease
Sir,

My relative, B K Pandey, age 47 is right now undergoing dialysis. Its his dialysis no3 with in 10 days. He has been diabetic since 1993 (20 yrs) and having high blood pressure since 2006. Few days back when his sugar came 425 and was not controlled by insulin he contacted to a kidney specialist and after all examination Dr found Chronic Kidney Disease.

Few key points before 1st dialysis are as follows

Critinine: 8.6
Haemoglobin: 9
Urea: 86

Dr found some infection in his kidneys as well and they are giving him some antibiotic and few injections to fix this kidney infection.

Now after 2nd dialysis he was feeling better and his critinine level was 4.3 but after 48 hrs of 2nd dialysis his critinine level was found 7.8, urea 75, haemoglobin 8. His blood pressure and sugar is very normal right now. Now Dr is undergoing for 3rd dialysis.

I am treating my relative in Preeti Hospital, Allahabad under Dr Arvind Gupta.

Kindly suggest me best kidney hospitals where can I take 2nd opinion regarding my relative's kidney condition.
