Q: Being induced scared

Next week possibly this friday I am being induced and am very scared about this. After being induced what happens? Do you go in to labour right away? Does it slow the birthing process or hurry it up? Also I have a pretty bad cold and its draining all my energy is it important to mention a cold to the dr.?
