I had oral and vaginal sex with a prostitute and after about 4 weeks, i was diagnosed with acute pharyngitis. The vaginal sex was protected but the oral sex wasnt and she was the only one who went down on me. During the intercourse, she took my condom off to blow me after which asked me if it was ok to do it without the condom, and i said it wasnt, but she thought i said it was ok and before i could react, she took my penis and inserted it inside, but as soon as it went in, i pushed her off me. So it went in inside and the very next moment it came out. I also developed a single small rash under my armpit at about 2 weeks and much before the sore throat happened but it seemed more like an insect bite as it had a little pus in it and it healed in about 3-4 days on its own. I also have hives and even much before the incident, i would get rashes 3-4 times a week, red in colour which when pressed, turn white n i still get em.

is the sore throat and the rash a coincidence or can it be HIV?

Welcome to e health forum.

The symptoms described by you cannot be attributed to HIV. Since the exposure was protected for all reason, the chances of HIV is very less likely. The risk of HIV just by oral sex is extremely low.

They are probably due to benign skin infections and respiratory infections associated with common cold or bacteria.

You may consult with your doctor for a examination and seek appropriate therapy including antibiotics, to treat the infection.
