Q: Beauty of Death

I know the first question that comes to your mind, looking at the subject line, what is so beautiful about death? We all are scared of it, aren't we? Death is not so scary in the sense that it is simply the natural termination of life. Like sexual desires, death also is a very natural way to end a life (unless, of course, the person has been murdered or died of an accident). Death occurs when the brain no longer functions as it was a few seconds ago like a super computer, when the heart stops purifying our blood which it has been doing for so long, when the pulmonary artery does not allow any blood to flow through it even if there is no blockage in it, when the nervous system stops transmitting message, and when the respiratory system refuses to inhale any more oxygen, enough of it!

In a world full of conflict, death has an extremely important role to play if we think about it. If the corrupted leaders realized in a true sense someday they are going to die, they probably wouldn't have been so corrupted. If they knew the wealth they are earning will go in vein in a flash when the power of death covers them up with its mighty canopy, they would have been different.

We all are running after money, possession, and wealth. To gain these we are indulging ourselves in a serious competition and sometimes we challenge our morality to gain these things. Sometimes we take a bribe, cheat each other, and even kill each other! Where will all those money, wealth, power, possession, the luxurious car, and the comfortable apartments that we live in will go, once death holds us powerfully with its mighty hands and the necessary bodily functions seize to function. Where? They will not go anywhere, it's only we who will no longer be here to use those stuffs! What a funny fact!

Sometimes we start being judgmental on others and don't reflect on our deeds which are filled with flaws. How harshly and mercilessly we treat people at times and forget they are also human beings like us. We don't even bother to think for a second the judgmental words that is uttered by our mouth will not speak a single word once death covers us up with its brutal destruction. The mouth that used to criticize people will not speak any more!

Finally, I want to make a few points very clear. I am not saying we should all start becoming philosophical and start only thinking about death. I am only trying to say we have a lot to learn from the fact that someday we are going to die. If we have this thinking behind what we do, we can be more honest in life and the world will be a much better place to live in. We all can learn from the fact that we will die on a certain day irrespective of whether we have a religion or we are an atheist. Everyone will die one day. Death is as good as a mathematical certainty if not a divine certainty.

Death = Biological/Mathematical Certainty if not a Divine Certainty

same as,

sin square A plus cos square A = 1

So do you think we can learn a lot from the fact that we are going to die someday?

God bless you all!

I think in exactly the same way!
Also, think of it like this: we are terrifyingly microscopic in terms of the planet. Yet even the Earth is infinitesmally tiny when compared to the entire universe! That puts it into perspective doesn't it? This whole race for wealth and material goods - it's all so pointless. Completely and utterly pointless. That probably contributes to the rising levels of mental illness nowadays.

Life is so precious. All the more so because it is finite. Once gone, we can't get it back. So, yes, there is beauty in death. A natural process that links everything.

Thinking about death doesn't necessarily mean you are morbid, as you pointed out. We can learn so much. Once we get hold of the fact that our life won't last forever and can be taken from us at any time, we can change our lives for the better.

That's why Gandhi said: "live as if you were to die tommorow."

What do you think about the "learn as if you were to live forever" part?

p.s. "We all can learn from the fact that we will die on a certain day irrespective of whether we have a religion or we are an atheist" - haha I'm neither! I don't suscribe to a religion, yet I believe in God Razz

Thanks!
I will tell you something, this is absolutely incredible! Your thoughts are exactly like that of mine.

I liked when you compared earth with the size of the universe. Ya it's amazing how tiny the earth is when we can't realistically imagine even the size of the tiny earth! What about us? We are even more a minuscule entity. Well, even the Milky Way galaxy that we live in is itself is very tiny as compared to the vast universe which is claimed to be containing 300 billion (!) galaxies if I am not wrong. I have to say the incredible vastness of space simply amazes, mesmorizes, and hypnotizes me (wrong verbs?).

"learn as if you were to live forever" . Not quite sure with this portion. If we learn to harm others by thinking we will live forever, that's actually a problem. You haven't said whether you agree with this or not. Rolling Eyes

Thanks for your post! Very Happy
