I have tried hard to take all local doctors advice and now have loose all hopes. Every night I sleep, I turn to wake up during deep night, because of breathing. Now I am not sure if I have asthma or short breath. when I had asthma, used ventolin pump for temporary relieves. But now its worst. I cant sleep well, wake during nights, back pains in the morning, head aches and symtoms I cant actually explain. if any one reading this, can you please help me out.
with thanks, James

possible asthma/allergies
why don't you try an antihistamine? Of course, you should be looked at by your doctor. My daughter has asthma and she has such rough nights. It's just a breathing test to find out. You may also consider an x-ray of your lungs to check for peribronchial cuffing, etc...Symptoms of asthma. Best wishes!

sleep apnea?
You probably should be checked for sleep apnea as well. A.M. headaches are common with this. It's a pain to go through a sleep study, but worth it. Do you feel like you snore? Do you kinda jerk yourself awake? Is your throat sore in the morning at all?

I sometimes used to jerk awake night as if my heart stopped (thats how it felt!) what is that indicative of? Right now I still don't sleep very well at all, I must get only a few hours of actual sleep a night. I don't think my problem is solely sleep apnea, just my breathing in general appears to be poor, is there anything you'd recommend?

Sorry to butt in by the way

Well, for one, sleep apnea can really mess you up. My husband has it & that is exactly what he used to do....jump awake like he wasn't getting air. It's horrendous to watch! Are you a smoker? Maybe a lung x-ray. Possibly asthma-simple breathing test. Lack of oxygen to the brain can cause a lot of side effects. Irritability, moodiness, tired all the time. People who don't treat apnea can get really mean. My husband's personality went back to his normal sweet self after the cpap machine. I really can't offer up anything but x-ray & sleep study. If you have apnea....your life would change dramatically on a machine. I was having problems breathing. Couldn't do stairs without feeling like I could die. Always my heart beat showed up normal on tests. One day they gave me a heart monitor, called a holter monitor. Only 24 hours later they found my heart was beating 150 beats a minute. Supposed to be no more than 99. Hence, today, a beta blocker, simple pill to slow my heart. Thyroid disorders can cause irregular heartbeat. Best Wishes!
