Hi, I just wanted to see if I could get some opinions here. I went to the gyn. the other day for various reasons, but when it came down to it I asked her if a long line of cancer in the female members of my family had any affect on me while using birth control (increase my risk)? My mother died of breast cancer, my grandmother died of cervical cancer, and 4 out of my 5 sisters had had issues with cysts and cervical cancer after being on the pill. Now, with all of that knowledge given to my doctor, she insisted that if I took birth control pills, it does now increase my chances at all. I get very different opinions from my friends when I ask them and also family members, my sister will not take any birth control pill at all because she said the hormones are what affects us and increases our risk, so she is convinced they increase your risk. In any case, I would like to hear some of your input as to whether or not you think taking birth control pills increase a woman's risk for certain types of cancer/cysts? Thanks !!!

There are certain types of birth control methods you could use. That is a tough question because even after researching it there is many disputations. If you still feel uneasy seek another medical opinion.
