I had a CT of the abdomen and pelvis last week due to fever of 103 and epigastric and RUQ and LUQ abdominal pain. Did not explain the fever, all blood work was within normal limits but the CT did show right basilar atelectasis and a 5mm nodular density in the right middle lobe. It also showed a sclerotic density of the left acetabulum most consistant with a bone island. They recommended a follow-up CT in 6 months to ensure stability of the lung nodule but a 3 month follow-up pelvic film to exclude early metastases. So my doctor did not seem too concerned and I was not really until he gave me a copy of the report and I read the results. My doctor actually called the atelectasis "scarring" but what from? I have never had pneumonia or any acute lung disease. I have had chest x-rays say hyperinflation consistant with COPD but when I do the full PFTs they are normal. I just wanted to get someone else's opinion if I need to get another opinion or not. Thank you.
