Since doctors seem Clueless about what causes this problem, I say we all share things about ourselves and see what the common link is

Bartholyn Cysts
I have had them on a fairly regular basis since I came of age. I have had them in my vaginal area particularly in the bend of the leg. Also under my arm. Sometimes I can handle them with topical antibiotic and not wearing binding clothing. If they don't go down, I start with hot compresses and oral antibiotics from the doctor. A few have needed the doctor's attention, including lancing and cautorization. They will never go away and I think surgery is not the end of them either, but may be required to get one under control at least. It is important to know that at least 60% of these cysts are now coming back as MRSA (look it up, seriously). You do not want them to get out of control, trust me. If you have a tendency to have these then get with your doctor and get some bactroban topical to use right away on them. If you can take it down...get yourself to the doctor STAT.

Bartholyn cyst
I am 37 years old. Married to my high school sweetheart. Only 1 sexual partner. He has assured me the same. This is my 1st experience with a bartholyn cyst. I don't smoke. I do drink. I have IBS(Irritable Bowel Syndrome). I have a hot tub.
I had th cyst drained and am currently on an antibiotic. Do you have an STD or MRSA? I am just trying to make a connection to something. Wondering why this happened. I would like to know if there are any success stories. I am concerned about reoccurance.

re: Recurrence
Unfortunately there is recurrence even after marsupialization (which is supposed to stop the recurrence mind you). I think that if recurrence happens, it's best to consider removal of the gland but unfortunately there is not much info on the internet on it. I noticed that recurrence is due to lack of lubrication and bacteria from the hands (since it occurs ONLY on those occasions). I rarely drink and I do not have STDs, so I think that must be it.
