I had 2 procedures done 2 weeks ago. First I had a Bartholin cyst excised and 2nd I had a transobturator tape procedure done. Both were performed by the urologist. I am concerned about the area the cyst was excised. I do not want it to get infected. My follow up appointment isn't for a couple more weeks. Everything I have read recommends sitz baths. However, I have also discovered that there are many different types of sitz bath recipes. Is it something that I can just go to the drug store and pick up off the shelf or do I need to call the dr's office and get a prescription for? Thank you for your time.

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
Best would be to get a prescription from your doctor’s office. Sitz baths are also associated with increased chances of infection due to contaminated water etc.
Discuss with your doctor about the need for doing Sitz bath or only gentle cleaning and dressing is needed. If he tells that Sitz bath is not needed, then you will just need regular cleaning and dressing of the area.
Take care.
