I've had a bartholin cyst for two weeks now, the first week having it be a size of a pea. Not until last Monday was when I became more aware of it as it grew in size. I went to the doctor who told me that it was a cyst and I should take sitz baths to help it rupture on its own. These sitz baths didnt help. The past few days my cyst grew to be about the size of a cherry or a bit bigger and has made walking, sitting, standing and even lying down completely unbearable. Yesterday I booked an appointment to go to Kaiser and I had to be wheelchaired in because I no longer was able to walk. My gyno told me I had two options: continue with the sitz bath or drain it. I opted for the drainage. He did this procedure without numbing me and had made a half inch incision on the cyst and began to drain it. This. Was. So. Painful. Being 24, I dont think I have ever experienced anything as painful as this. After the draining was done, he inserted a word catheter and explained to me post care instructions but I was in so much shock from the pain I was hardly listening to him.

So today is day one post surgery and it's true what I have read online; once you have your cyst drained it does provide instant relief. I'm able to walk and do the things I was once unable to do.

However this is my concern: there is still a semi hard lump in the same area as where my cyst was located. Will this drain itself and return to normal (or close to normal) size or is this something I have to worry about? Also, I am experiencing a bit discomfort down there and I think it's simply because of the incision itself.

Can anyone please offer some insight or advice? Anything will be greatly appreciated Smile
