Q: Balls of both feet swell at night ?

I suffer from a condition called H.I.T. hepparin induced thrombocytopenia. I wear pressure stockings to prevent my legs from swelling, and to prevent a bluish-black discoloration of my feet. Recently, the last month or so, the balls of both feet swell at night causing alot of discomfort due to my frequent trips to urinate at night. A short time after I wake up and move around the swelling and the discomfort stops. The same situation occurs every night to both feet, at first I thought it was cramps in the balls of my feet, because I frequently get cramps in my calves, again mostly at night.

do you have any history of cardiac problems? this almost sounds like right sided CHF(congestive heart failure) might want to talk to your doctor about your cardiac health and see what they say, especially if this is pitting edema, or a swelling in which you can poke it and it will leave a dent in the skin for more than 1 second.

No cardiac problems, and no signs of pitted edema. Thank you for your response.

that is a very good sign. if this continues to concern you, you should talk to your doctor about possible circulatory problems and what they could do for you. as an EMT i can only venture a guess with a bit of medicine in the background, and i cant even see or touch you, so i have no other ideas... all the best and keep us updated
