asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 17th, 2009
Hello, recently i've discovered a marble size lump, more like ball actually at the bottom of where my butt crack begins. i can connect my two fingers under it and can feel all sides of it. i tried popping it thinking its a deep pimple but that did not work. i would like to know some of the more common things it is and some not so common things it couild be and what i could do short of going to the physician, if anything? thanks.

It is, of course, impossible to provide a specific diagnosis to patients over the Internet.

In view of your age, the lump you describe may be a pilonidal cyst. Most of the time, these cysts are relatively asymptomatic. However, they can become infected.

You should see your personal physician to have this lump evaluated, and to confirm the diagnosis.
