Q: Balano Postitis and treatment
asked by: DoctorQuestion on December 10th, 2008
I am embarassed about this. I am seeing a woman and when we had sex the condom broke. There is redness on the tip and under the head of my penis after we had sex. It burns when I urinate but not from the penis only when urine gets on the shaft under the tip of my penis. What could be the cause of this? years ago I had a yeast infection on my penis could this be a returning occurance? I am embarassed about this

According to your symptoms (burning feeling on the penis when urinate) you might have an inflammation of the penis’s head or/and foreskin (balano-postitis). Balanopostitis could be due to an infection (including sexually transmitted) but it can also be due to physical irritation or an allergic reaction to the condom.

A yeast infection in a man could be transmitted from a woman who suffers from vaginal candidiasis.

No matter how embarrassed you feel, you should visit your primary health provider for precise diagnostics and proper therapy.
