Q: Bad adult acne

My girlfriend who is 38 has really bad acne. As with most people with acne she has tried everything. From eating right to all the least and most expensive acne care products and also zapping with Hulda Clarke zapper. She had clear skin up to probably four years ago. It is believed here acne problems are hormonal of origin. She only has acne on her cheeks. Is there natural product that works for hormonal acne because I do not believe in the chemical stuff. I have seen good remarks about Acnexus and I bought if for her. She has been using it for about a month but so far no improvement.

I exercise everyday, drink plenty of water, eat right and get sun exposure yet acne plagues me. I'm currently checking out a phototherapy device that was featured on BBC called Therasol by visol.com and looking forward to some lasting results.

Thanks for your feedback. My girlfriend also exercises on a regular basis. She is slim and seems healthy except for the acne problem. She is very conscious about what she eats. It really saddens me that she has to undergo this battle with acne. The other day she told me that she had also bought some hormonal balancing tea but then she realized it would not be a hormonal imbalance since her period is fine. I suspect the fact that she does have problems with her bowels might be the culprit. Sometimes she goes three days without going to the bathroom and that might have some effect on here acne since the bad stuff is not meant to stay that long in the bowels. She visited a skin therapist who recommended laser therapy. However, at the time her skin was too irritated and after a healing period she reconsidered that alternative. On top of that she also has tight pores making it difficult to get the stuff out. Every night she damps here face with steam and cleans with Acnexus.

Hi skyfitter, Has anyone ever talked about body detox or a candida issue for your girl f? she can do a lot for her self with what i'm about to share with you.
The cells of our body work like valves, through the processes of function the need to expel the toxins or spent energy before they can do this they have to have a replacement fresh solution, that solution is saline & the fluid around those cells is as salty as sea water, when we don't have enough salty fluid in our bodies(not necessarily dehydration but not the optimum amount of fluid)the cells close up & don't release the spent fluids so we become in a form of toxic state, some more, some less. The way we can be closer to our optimum fluid capacity is for every 40-50 pound of body weight we should be consuming 2 pints of clean (filtered)water, if were more active or vise versa then we should adjust it accordingly. to achieve such fluid intakes we should build up to it over 2-3 weeks as this is the time it takes for our bodies to recognise the new standard of hydration. Now hospitals use saline water in iv right?! so how bad could it be if they do it right, making a sol-e salt solution to use as a disolved application will help us to get the right amount of salt in our systems, but don't use supermarket salt, it is heat treated & mostly stripped of the minerals that are to do us good. the best is to go to a health food store & get natural sea salt or himalayan salt, these have 84 minerals in them & are what the body needs, look up vital functions of salt in the body , these are medical facts & mostly the reason that we are told that salt is bad is because it is processed, doesn't have the minerals or we are not consuming enough correct fluids to eliminate the excesses that our bodies don't use out of our bodies. Done correctly we can repair a lot of health issues with this salt & hydration processes. Your GF could also benefit from a salt pultice on her skin or even a foot spa with it in, but the best way is to heal from within.
If i can be of further help with this i encourage your reply's

Hi timeishort. I really appreciate your feedback. As a matter of fact I have also been telling my GF that she needs to drink more water. Personally I drink a lot of water especially cold water. I have read conflicting reports that people should not drink cold water. She did undergo three different body detox treatments which I can remember. Unfortunately that did not seem to help. Perhaps she is falling back to an incorrect diet. I did not know about the salt and hydration process. I'll definitely tell her about it. Thank you very much.

Thank you for sharing the different alternatives she has tried. While natural methods have generally worked for people, I've found it ineffective for myself. And I understand how frustrating it is for both you and your girl. I ordered the phototherapy system from visol.com over the weekend. I should get it in a week's time, and will let you know if that helps me.

Stop using acnexus, if she's using an exfoliant everyday it will only make her skin worse because it might be making little minuscule cuts on her face. It could be due to hormonal acne, however, hormonal acne usually comes up on the jawline area. Does your wife smoke, or does she have any allergies or sinus problems? If it's on her lower cheeks you might want to have her get her gums checked out as that can be a symptom of tooth or gum problems. Also, if she's eating a lot of dairy and sugar products or recently just had a cold, this could be the culprit.

However, I could be wrong and your wife could just possibly be going through menopause, if this is the case, there is a pill called Vitex which balances the hormones. This pill is said to decrease hormonal acne. It's non-threatening and there have been no problems associated with this pill. You can look it up if you need further information, it's very popular.

Normally when women suffer from hormonal acne, it tends to show up during puberty and stick with them. Women who have also gone through menopause sometimes gets acne as well because of the increase in testosterone.

I know this is going to sound strange but has she started eating foods(even vitamins) have have aspartame in it? Aspartame can cause acne in some people and I've actually witnessed this for myself. Someone in my family started getting extremely bad breakouts and it started when they started taking a vitamin everyday that contained aspartame. Once she stopped taking those vitamins and switched to one that had no aspartame in it, the acne started to clear up on its own.
