Q: Bacterial vaginosis and yeast infection ?

I've been using the nuvaring for about 6 months now. About a month ago i started finding symptoms of a yeast infection. i've had one before so i didn't think much of it. Itook monistat 1 due to my vagina being irritated and greatly itching. I waited a couple of days and that didn't work. I took vagistat 4 days later and still that didn't work. I went to the doctor and they gave me diflucon because it seemed to be just a yeast infection and we could not check due to my period. That calmed the symptoms but not by much. i went back a week and a half later and got checked. i ended up having both a yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis. I took the medication for both, taking the diflucon a second time and 5 days of the metrogel. I waited 2 days after both medications then tried to have sex with my boyfriend. All i could really feel was a sharp pain, mostly around the entrance. Could i still have an infection or is this due to not having sex for 2 months and i just have to get used to it again?

it could still be the infection hun but yes it could also be the fact you havent had sex in 2 months..i would check to see if your vagina is red around the opening and does it sting a little when you urinate? Jenny

It doesn't sting when i urinate. but i just recently figured out i'm alergic to the new birth control i started using. my hands swell up and i break out in hives everywhere. it moves from place to place. it gets real bad. could that be it too? maybe i got rid of the infection but since i'm alergic and it seems to be affecting my whole body, maybe the sharp stinging pain was also a reaction.
