i recently went to the doctor for a pregnancy test, which i did not receive due to the fact that my doctor claimed my pregancy symptoms that i'd had for about three months now were the effects of a bacterial infection which the papsmear apparently resulted in..

my question:

what are the symptoms for bacterial infections and do they match pregancy symptoms?

p.s. my pregnancy symptoms were weight gain (so much so that i've gotten a belly that i've never had before that very much so resembles a two or three month pregnant baby-belly), sudden mood swings and irritability, nauseousness (especially to certain foods), and a missing period for a month (now almost two months)

p.s.s. also wanted to know if taking metronidazole (flagyl) would be a good idea to take if i believe that i am actually pregnant?

If the tests said you had a bacterial infection, then its likely that you do.

If you think you are pregnant, then take a home pregnancy test, these symptoms would indicate that there is enough HCG in your system to trigger a positive.

Are you on any form of birth control?

I'm not sure about flagyl, but you can call the doctor to be sure or check the restrictions on the package to see if there's a warning for women who are pregnant or suspect pregnancy.
