bacterial infection and antibiotics Posted: 06-02-08 08:33am
Hello,
I had a week ago out of a sudden an
abscess growing between my vulva and where
my leg starts. Therefore I went to the
gynecologist who did not open it (because
it was small) but who prescribed me
antibiotics (Docxcycline 100mg). Moreover,
I had since a little while itiching efflux
and as it has not become better after I
treated it with yeast medicine, he also
diagnosed a bacterial infection. Since
then I have several questions:
1) The itching is gone by now but I wonder
if my partner would need treatment as well
and I have to make special things with my
laundry to kill the germs?
2) I use the Nuvaring for contraception.
Will the antibiotics interfer with the
effectiveness of the Nuvaring?
3) I normally get a yeast infection after
I take antibiotics. However, I am leaving
for a short trip with my boyfriend next
weekend and would therefore try to prevent
it or resolve it quickly. Is there
something I can do to do so? I had a look
at the Pharmacy for products and there are
also one day treatments available. Are
these more "dangerous" and the normal
three day dosis (seen long term as I
assume they must be a lot stronger)?
4) I googled bacterial infection and I it
says that it can make infertile if it is
not treated over a longer period of time.
Is this right? What is meant by long
period of time? How often does this
happen.
