I was recently diagnosed with Bacteria Vaginosis. I have never had any problems with my downstairs area before. It's always been clean and odourless.

I had a boyfriend for almost three years and I took his virginity. But always had protected sex before him. We had unprotected sex, as you do in a relationship and no problems.

I've been broken up with him now for 7 months and have been seeing a new guy for 5 months. We have unprotected sex, and probably have had protected sex 3 or 4 times.
There is still no answer to why women get Bacteria Vaginosis. But I can't help but think that it's him. I've never had any problems before, a few months into sleeping with him, this smelly discharge comes out of nowhere.

I went to my doctor and she prescribed me an antibiotic which contained 4 pills in a packet that had to be taken all at one. A day and bit later I was better. Then not even two months later, I got it again. I went back and my doctor prescribed me the same kind of antibiotic but 1 two times a day for 7 days.

Again a couple days later it was gone. Then not even 3 or 4 weeks later, it appeared again. I'm getting really tired of this. Its getting in the way of my relationship because, he thinks I've been sleeping with someone else because he doesnt understand. He is supportive but he leaves it up to me to deal with my problem. I want to ask him to get himself checked out. He's not the kind, that is easily persuaded. I'm also not really comfortable talking to him about these things. What should I do? And why does this Bacteria Vaginosis keep coming back.

I'm only 18 and its really depressing to have to deal with this.

Does anyone else know what I can do, so it doesn't come back or so that it doesnt come back for a while at least.

Please help.

hi, i was told that i had bv also, the doc prescribed the gel for a week i did that and it appeared as if it was gone but it came right back then i had my period and it was way worse than it had ever been before so i went to see the doc again and this time i got the pills for 7 days.it came right back soon after i was done with the pills, so i did some research online and found hlc candaclear suppositories that i have ordered online and this is what has helped me.

i have read sometimes of some ppl who don't get rid of bv until their partener gets treated (even though it's not necessarily considered an std to some but it could be the cause) see your vaginal balance has been disrupted, when u have bv u'r vagina is not acidic enough and sperm is alkaline so if u are having unprotected sex his sperm can be causing the problem by disrupting your vaginal balance.

i would suggest you use condoms when u are sleeping together, see if he can also get treated and try out the hlc candaclear, for me it has worked better than the anitbiotics. it's actually a probiotic, so instead of the anti biotic killing everything in your vagina and then you not being able to re balance your vaginal walls, the pro biotic is actually just inserting more of the good bacteria in there to help u fight off the bad bacteria.

after my period i use the hlc suppositories to re balance myself since my period throw the balance off. i also take fem dophilus it's a pro biotic in a pill form. i take this everyday. i know there are people who have been living bv for years and years and for some people it keeps on re occurring because their bodies are having trouble balancing itself out.

i hope this helps, i know it's a pain to deal with, but this has helped me, i have read it doesn't work for everyone but it doesn't hurt to give it a try!

BV
I have had this several times in my life and it was always from unprotected sex. You do not even have to have sexual intercourse, rubbing against each other is enough to get it. My problem now is that the antibiotics do not work anymore.

BV doesnt have anything to do with whether sex is unprotected or not... there is still a lot that is unknown about the condition. I am dealing with my second case of it in 6 months. The first time it developed into PID and thankfully this time has not. It is a pain to try and deal with all the time, and it is very depressing to constantly think about it day in day out... but remember you are not alone, BV is twice as common as thrush so imagine how many people out there are also dealing with it!!
